HUB Carei · Data Center & AI Factory
A data and AI infrastructure proposed for north-western Romania. Land is available for both projects (Data Center and AI Factory). On this page: the story, what is validated, what comes next and why the market context matters.
Our story
A project built step by step — with market research and dialogue with industry specialists.
- 2024The idea takes shape: bringing a data infrastructure project to north-western Romania.
- 2025Market research and dialogue with local administration and industry specialists; attended DataCenter Forum Bucharest 2025.
- 2026Continued industry dialogue, attended DataCenter Forum Bucharest 2026; preparing stage CAR01 and looking for partners.
What still needs to be validated (honestly)
We are at the start of the road. Land is confirmed for both projects; the following must be validated before any firm commitment:
- Power
- Connectivity
- Cooling
- Permitting
- Financing
Next stages
- 1Complete the pre-feasibility study for the CAR01 site.
- 2Structure the investment vehicle and business model.
- 3Sign agreements with first technical and energy partners.
- 4Submit permitting and grid-connection documentation.
- · Technical (DC design, integrators, hyperscale)
- · Energy (generation, transmission, PPAs)
- · Financial (equity, funds, public structures)
Romania is entering a real investment cycle in AI infrastructure.
These projects confirm investor interest in Romania and the scale of capital required. At the same time they create competition for power, land and capital — which is why CAR01 needs a distinct positioning in the north-west.
Figures reflect capacity that is already operational as well as publicly announced planned build-outs.
AIC and ClusterPower announced in December 2025 a partnership to develop, in stages, one of the largest European regions for AI infrastructure: the MSC1 campus in Mischii–Craiova has a first phase already operational (~10 MW), with a planned build-out to 512 MW, plus the future FRS1 campus in Făurești (~300 MW planned from 2029).

According to the „State of European Data Centres 2026” report (EUDCA), Romania is positioned as the second-largest data-centre hub in CEE after Poland, with the potential to double or triple capacity in the coming years. European data centres are expected to attract around EUR 176 billion in investment between 2026 and 2031.
